Granner's 2017-2018 engagements include performing as Dr. Morel in Stewart Copeland's (of the band The Police) world premiere opera "The Invention of Morel" at Chicago Opera Theater & Long Beach Opera, Triquet in "Eugene Onegin" and Ubaldo in the U.S. Premier of Donizetti’s “Pia de Tolomei” with Spoleto Festival USA, Curly in "Oklahoma!" with Ash Lawn Opera, Edgardo in Pacific Opera Project "Lucia di Lammermoor" with Greek-American Soprano (& fianceé) Jamie Chamberlin, The Magician in Menotti's "The Consul with Long Beach Opera and features in the climactic scene of award winning independent film, "Counter-Clockwise," directed by George Moïse.

Stemming from his early breaks with the venerated Wolf Trap, Glimmerglass Operas and as a Metropolitan Opera National Competition winner, Granner’s career path is blessed with distinction and variety and... wild extremes.

The big successes as a major label artist (founding member of the Sony Masterworks recording group, The American Tenors) and exciting young tenor sometimes overshadow his independent credits of being the lead artist and face of numerous tours, concerts and classical music inspired art installations, as well as being credited as a visionary artistic director and publisher.

On the opera stage Mr. Granner’s voice fills the space with a beautiful, lyric timbre hearkening back to tenors of the golden age, but his emphasis in contemporary music and post-modern pop art is a bridge leading to great adventures and rare experiences.

His time-demanding and complex process of creating new, modern opera roles, Nathan then carries back to the historical repertoire, making standard characters something new and fresh, as if they had just been written.

Part of that repertoire includes: Nemorino in Tim Ocel’s (L'Elisir D'amore) at Lyric Opera Kansas City; as Rodolfo in Tara Faircloth’s ultra-comic and deeply sensitive (La Bohème) with Tulsa Opera; premiering Doctor Morel for (The Invention of Morel) Chicago Opera Theater by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Stewart Copeland (The Police) and Jonathan Moore.

Granner’s intense performance style hits all of his characters, such as playing Curly in Charlottesville Opera’s (Oklahoma!),

with contemporary opera director Mary Birnbaum and critically acclaimed secondary roles like Triquet (in a tumultuously received Spoleto USA Eugene Onegin), directed by Chen Shi-Zheng; at Long Beach Opera playing Nika Maggadoff the Magician (The Consul); touring as Payador from Astor Piazzolla’s “operita” (Maria de Buenos Aires) throughout Poland with guitarist/conductor Krzysztof Meisinger and even one of his most interesting roles to date, as that of Kanye West in Hunter Shelby Long’s (Fair Looks and True Obedience), otherwise known as the Kardashian opera, set during the hour before a fictional wedding between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Nathan has also toured extensively as a solo artist accompanied by classical guitarist/record producer Beau Bledsoe, bringing new arrangements of Lieder and Chanson, Flamenco, Tango,Turkish styles and new compositions to such remote places as Glendive, Montana and Perm, Russia, a city of more than a million people held secret until the cold war between the U.S.S.R. an The United States of America ended.

While doing all of this, Mr. Granner finds time to give back; teaming up with David Foster and Friends to sing at dozens of charitable fundraisers. Together over the course of a just few years they have helped raise tens of millions of dollars to find the cures for Parkinson’s Disease, Cancer as well as to aid in Children’s Health, Wildlife Conservation and Substance Abuse. Through cutting edge collaborations in the medium of live music (opera, broadway and concert work), recorded media, television and performance art installation, Nathan works incessantly to help open the door for new audiences to enjoy classical music and opera.
